What is Green Button?
Green Button is an industry standard for access to energy usage data. UtilityAPI helps connect authorized energy providers with utility information through supported authorization processes.
Why share electricity data?
Historical consumption can help evaluate system sizing and household energy patterns. Actual savings and performance depend on equipment, usage, rates, and project terms.
What information is shared?
The authorization screen describes the data requested, which may include usage, account, meter, rate, or billing information. Review those scopes before consenting. Do not assume only kilowatt-hours are shared.
Can I revoke access?
Use UtilityAPI or your utility’s available authorization controls to revoke access. Review their policies for how previously collected data is handled.
