Is Grid Safety my utility?+
No. Grid Safety is an independent Grid Stability public resource. Contact your utility to report outages or confirm restoration and shutoff information.
Why does an outage not appear on the map?+
Coverage and refresh times vary by data source. Scheduled work and PSPS events may not be included. Check the official utility map for your service address.
Can I receive outage alerts?+
Enroll through your utility’s official notification service. You can also contact our team to ask about local updates; submitting the contact form does not activate automatic alerts.
Does Medical Baseline keep my power on?+
No. It may provide a lower-rate electricity allowance and additional notifications, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Have a backup and evacuation plan.
Can I get solar and a battery with no upfront payment?+
Some qualified homes may receive a no-upfront-cost offer. This can still involve a long-term electricity contract or other obligations. Review the full written terms.
Will a Virtual Power Plant drain my battery?+
Reserve settings and dispatch rules depend on the equipment and program. Review the backup reserve and opt-out controls with your provider before enrolling.
Can CARE or FERA work alongside solar?+
Bill assistance and solar eligibility are separate. Ask your utility and program administrator how an installation affects your benefits and billing.
What if I rent my home?+
You may still qualify for utility bill assistance. Rooftop projects usually require property-owner approval. Multifamily programs such as SOMAH may be relevant.
Is food safe after a long outage?+
An unopened refrigerator generally stays cold about four hours. Use a thermometer and the official FoodSafety.gov chart. Never taste food to decide whether it is safe.
How do I know which incentives are available?+
Start with current official program guidance and ask the administrator to verify eligibility and remaining funding. Program terms and tax rules can change.
